黄钟(a) is a conceptual work for zero instruments (see the perusal score on the right). Its first interpretation was realized by the platform Score Follower:

Since its appearance on YouTube, the work has generated discussion, alongside moments of ironic or “trolling” reception. While the piece resists fixed explanation, it may be approached through several points of entry:

(1) the meaning of 黄钟 and its metaphysical resonance in ancient China

(2) the tuning of 黄钟 and its political role in anchoring orders across dynasties

(3) the instability of Truth

(4) music that is beyond Sound
